How is coaching different from counselling or mentoring for stressed professionals?
Coaching focuses on helping you move forward toward specific goals (I like to describe them as intentions). Counselling tends to focus on healing emotional difficulties. Mentoring is the direct sharing of expert advice from someone further ahead. In coaching, you are treated as resourceful and whole, and the work is present/future‑focused and action‑oriented; counselling goes deeper into past experiences and mental health, and mentoring is more “let me tell you what I did” with “let’s help you find what works for you”, whereas coaching is largely the latter.
Can coaching support my mental health if I’m struggling at work?
Coaching can strongly support your wellbeing at work by helping you establish your own needs, in order to manage stress, set boundaries, build healthier habits, and regain a sense of control, but it is not a replacement for clinical mental health care. When someone’s needs are primarily about safety, diagnosis, or acute conditions such as severe depression or trauma, coaching usually works best alongside or after medical or therapeutic support, and part of the work can be helping you access the right services. Signposting is a key part of coaching, to support people get the right intervention at the right time.
How does a coaching programme with bluegreen coaching work from first call to final session?
A coaching programme with bluegreen coaching begins with a free exploratory ‘are we a good fit? Call’ to clarify what you want from coaching and check howe we might work together. If we decide to work together, we agree clear outcomes, number and frequency of sessions (often every 2–4 weeks), how we’ll measure progress, and then meet regularly online or in Poole; near the end we review what has changed, what you want to sustain, and whether any further support or supervision would be useful.
