The Big Small

The power of small.

One month ago today, I was hit by a car and knocked off my bike.  That’s the state of my helmet and ONE of my bruises.

Imagine the state of my head, had I not been wearing that helmet.

Always one to search for meaning, I arrived at how something so small can have a big impact.

It calls out safety and attention.

1 – I know what my safety/security needs are, and in that scenario, it was my helmet (a SMALL thing, which gave BIG protection).  What do you know about your safety needs?  Physical and emotional…

2 – Attention – the driver who hit me, wasn’t paying attention, driving straight over a give way line (a SMALL lapse led to a BIG crash).  Are you always giving 100% to each task, or are you doing/thinking of other things?  Look at the consequences here…what might they be for you?

Is this really for here?  I think we all use our brains for business, and life?  Since the accident, concussion has meant that anything which required the brain to be active, caused physical pain. What would happen if you were without your brain at 100%?  I gradually started work, but for each 45 minutes I did, I needed 2 hours rest.

Many people know that sitting still is NOT REALLY ME, and that felt really UNCOMFORTABLE.

This post is to:

  • shout WEAR a HELMET!
  • open a conversation on “the big small”

What is it making you think about?
